It’s wonderful to talk about our projects that feature high profile buildings and projects; we have had the pleasure of supplying work for major UK church restorations, prestige stately homes and prime governmental structures.

However, most of our projects involve supplying large scale flagging, paving and walling for local governments.  This year we have been inundated with projects supplying a lot of commercial work to ‘reflag’ our clients streets and pathways.   However, projects like this take a lot of planning and work.

Our commercial work takes a lot of time to work, make and deliver.  Often the project requirements are over 1000m² and each project can take upto 12-18 months to complete – depending upon circumstances.  As well as regular paving, we also supply blister paving, coloured bricks, paving setts, radial and transition kerbing for a wide range of requirements.

Pictures below are examples of the paving we supply, our dedication to high quality natural stone, having a fine tunes process and ability to deliver means our large projects are a great part of what we do.

The old lady of Threadneedle Street, is a very old fond monica given to the Bank of England.  It sites on large site at the end of this famous street.

However, a project was commissioned to update the paving and road outside of the front and we were proud to have been asked to supply the bricks for the project.  The client wanted Whitworth stone setts.  Whiteworth is a very hard sandstone, making it idea for somewhere that is going to get a lot of ‘traffic’ over the top of it.

As you can see from the 2 images below, almost identically taken from a before (thanks to Google Street View) and one from the work on site; you can see what parts are being upgraded.

We were set a recent challenge by Paul, from Four Oaks Reclamation, to make a couple of saddle stones.  They have high end reclaimation items that can be used, as is now the fashion, for decorative outside ornamental features; but they cannot obtain saddle stones!  So they asked us to make a pair to try out in their yard and see if there is a demand for them.

Originally, these were used as feet/legs for grain stores; which were small enclosures raised off the ground to help prevent rodents eating the grain.  They had a leg and overall, looked like a mushroom.  We were asked to make the ‘tops’ or the saddle part.

Our client lives in a village where all of the old walls use a larger size half round coping stone than the standard size used traditionally; but they couldn’t get it easily.

We were approached to make a bespoke set of half round coping stones for the top of their lovely sweeping stone wall, so everything flowed and fitted in with the the other properties in the village.

One of our working partners, takes our stone and shapes it for his own clients projects – and we get to see some of the work done.

In this instance there was a wall, with damage on the coping stones an posts that were getting worn and damanged.   It needed to be restored with the same design and as much walling as possible.

Jason runs his own stone business – Step In Stone Ltd.

He shapes, works on and installs stone projects for his clients.  A talented stonemason and craftsmen, Jason has shared his work with us and we have displayed some on our site.   There are links below to his various projects – including a ‘stunning’ curved outdoor patio and paving area, that is fluid and sweeping.

This one is a nice limestone fireplace with step by step images.  You can click on the image below to see all of the images or view the gallery.

We can see here that 2 Derbyshire sandstone caps have been made and prepared to be mounted on to the posts.  Then the after, the caps were finished to match the same colour as the posts.  The caps are a perfect fit and look in ideal proportion to the posts.

In this project you can see a whole post being rebuilt with layering as well as a cap.  It is a red sandstone that was used, the cap has a curved finish to it and the layering has a tooled margined faces to give a little extra detailing.

This is another stunning project by one of our partners, who obtains their stone from us and then installs it at a clients.  The project was a porcelain patio areas, curved, in sections with low walling and coping stones required.

Grey sandstone copers were used to offset the colour in the flooring and walls.   See the before (work in progress) and after!

We were asked to provide the stonework using Stanton Moor Sandstone.  After the stone was delivered and applied to the building, you can se the lines, curves and shape all flow seamlessly with the existing facade.

All of the internal radius’s mouldings and moulded panels were done by hand.  Iain, a talented stonemason, who does work for us, took two weeks, by hand, to get the detailing on the curves.

As you can see, from clicking on any of the images, the work has been done to a high professional finish. Iain has also done other work, which is displayed on our site, such as stone plaques – you can see some HERE.

As you can see, these Stanton Moor coping stones finished off the brick work walling surround areas in a beautiful style.  The pool looks amazing with the flag stone around, the coping stones on the walls match the brick work and flags to make it all flow and look harmonious.

However, these natural stone coping stones were not just designed complete the look of this outside area.  They had another purpose. They also hid the lighting, so when the day draws to an end, the whole area looks more enchanted for an evening outside in the patio area.
